We have had for the last 6 months or so construction crews digging up the sides of our main street into our neighborhood to widen the road and create a center turn lane. I have never really witnessed a full construction site like this and it has been pretty interesting to watch the transformation. The most amazing thing that has happened however, is that my son, Noah, is mesmerized by all the 'dozers', 'scoopers' and dump trucks. If I could take a day off of work and set up a couch so we could just sit and watch the scooping and dumping and dirt pushing around I totally would...I wonder how I would code that on my new time sheet? It is amazing to me how excited and happy Noah gets everytime (and I do mean EVERYTIME) we drive by as this is the only route to take to get to his daycare. His anticipation of whether the 'scooper' is ON or OFF and not understanding why when it's raining that the 'scoopers and dozers' don't operate. This morning for example this was our conversation...
Noah: Momma scooper on?
Me: No, probably not yet, it's still dark out.
Noah: Ooohh cool. Momma dark out? Scooper sleeping?
Me: Yes, the scooper is still sleeping.
Noah: ok, Momma scooper coffee? (I am assuming he means that the scooper will drink coffee when he wakes up? A lot of interpretation with a 2 year old thought process...)
I don't know how long this construction is going to continue. I do hope it lasts a while - even for the mere 5 minutes we are in the car on the way to/from daycare. Its a happy, relaxed time to say the least.
